Everyone brainstorms. But people tend to forget that it’s not a check mark . Everyone can (and should) practice and improve brainstorming. Here's how.

On Craft you will be able to get much closer to the professional content creators whose projects are on the platform. One of our first initiatives in this endeavour is this new series where the directors share their thoughts on how to stay creative and spur ideas. Tomm Moore starts out by explaining how ideas can be cultivated.

Following Craft: Sharing Our Startup Journey

The Craft community is now 450 person strong, and we will soon be joined by 300 students from The Animation Workshop who purchased Craft for their educational program. Stat time, put on your glasses: 93% of everyone who signs up is active the month after and 13% of you are active at a given day. We use those stats to see if we’re actually creating content that makes you want to stick around. There is a bit of a dry-spell content wise as we’re ramping up in our beta, but we’re happy you’re sticking around. We got things in store for you onwards, big promise!

Getting feedback is crucial to any design process and can benefit both the designer and the design in many ways. How to hire animators for you animation studio

/
I founded an animation studio back in 2010 and hiring has been one of the most challenging parts of producing projects. Our studio, Nørlum, scales between 3–30 employees and we’ve co-produced two feature films so far: Song of the Sea ((Cartoon Saloon) I was producer and Animation Supervisor)), and Long Way North (Sacrebleu Productions) just to give you some scale and reference. We have a big network from our time at The Animation Workshop (Danish animation school), which helps immensely as the best introduction to talent is through recommendation from someone you trust and share taste with. Below I'd like to share how we went by hiring animation talents.

The designer of 2016. Understanding problem-setting and problem-solving.

/
Designers used to be associated with traditional fields such as graphic design and visual communication. If you ask your grandparents what words spring to mind, they will probably say “posters, colors, symmetry, magazines, fonts etc”. Today the term is much broader — you can be the designer of interaction, of usability, of experience and of thought. Some will oppose this notion. A designer of thought? Really? But why not. The processes of designing are relevant to many fields and can help improve work processes and products that positively impact people’s lifes. “To design” is prominent in almost every profession, and we can benefit from understanding the processes at work. Let’s examine why pretty much everyone designs. And why it matters.

Transparency will revolutionise the entertainment industry It’s becoming increasingly popular to share the unfinished, raw, not-yet-awesome-looking media. #ShareYourProcess, #WIP #MakingOf hashtags are blooming. And for good reason! The age of the black box where a production unearths from nothing, accelerates from 0 to 100 in a split second, is over. Instead we will see a period of creators sharing in-production material from films, games and all other digital media production — from the early idea over development to polishing the final bits before releasing. We’ve seen it in tech and in beta-versions of games. Now is the time for entertainment to follow. Below you can read what I believe you can gain from sharing your process. And concrete advice on how to start today.
